Stop Motion Lives!

I watched a great compilation of animated shorts caled "Animation Express" by the NFB, one of the most influential films Madame Tutli-Putli (, & ) was amazing, and stop motion.  In class we have been talking about how 2D has slowly faded, and how stop motion was a novelty for a time then also faded. Recently it's been making a slow, steady, progressive art medium to work in. Some of the work is gorgeous and outlandish all at the same time. In other respects its so tedious and mindblowing.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Madame Tutli Putli (2007)

A few films really got me going including two films by two filmmakers who work in stop motion,

Their two films are called Saint Barbe and The Land of Heads (links provided). Of the two I fell instantly in love with Sainte Barbe. It's such a cute but sad story that leaves you with a slight deadly warm feeling. It's lovely, and I can only hope to try to do something like this in third year!
